What is IVF?
In Vitro Fertilization is the most effective fertility treatment. It involves a multi-week/month process in which eggs are removed from a female’s ovaries, fertilized with sperm in a petri dish, grown inside a lab for several days (usually 3-5), then transferring into the female’s uterus to develop for the remainder of gestation.

IVF is used in conjunction with a multitude of medication protocols to produce more and higher quality eggs, sperm, embryos, and a receptive uterine lining. It is used successfully for both medical and elective reasons.
Types of In Vitro Fertilization
In Vitro Fertilization is a broad umbrella term used to describe a treatment where fertilization happens outside of the body. There are many subcategories within IVF that are frequently given and referred to with different names despite being based on the same technology and techniques.
